COMMON NAMES: Great Blue Heron, Blue Heron.
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Ardea herodias.
MALE DESCRIPTION: Body and neck bluish grey. Head white with black horizontal eye stripe. Bill orange to grey. Juvenile same as adult except top of head all black. There is also a rare white morph: body all white with bright orange bill and legs.
FEMALE DESCRIPTION: Same as male.
