Plainfin Midshipman Pictures - images of Porichthys
notatus
|
The Plainfin Midshipman (Porichthys
notatus) inhabits the Pacific north coast of the USA and Canada. It lays
bright orange eggs under rocks in the intertidal and subtidal zone and
guards them from predators until they hatch. Plainfin Midshipmen have light
emitting pores or cells along their flanks and the sides of their heads
which are probably used to attract prey species. These Plainfin Midshipman pictures
