The pubescent porcelain crab
(Pachycheles pubescens)
is a rarely encountered inhabitant of the subtidal zone in the Pacific
Northwest. It is a secretive crab that hides unmder rocks in high current
areas. It is easily recognizable by the depse covering of short hair that
